Come on in, and make yourself at home! Welcome to All Points North, an encompassing, educational, and quarterly online magazine that is run by a diligent cross-section of SUNY Plattsburgh scholars. Enjoy a slice of life from our neck of the woods—Plattsburgh, New York; Lake Placid, New York; Burlington, Vermont; and Montreal, Quebec.
Don't be afraid to to offer any suggestions or story ideas:
Gretel H. Schueller is a professor of magazine journalism at Plattsburgh State University.
Board of Editors
Editor Megan McIntyre, from Watertown, New York, is a senior at SUNY Plattsburgh and a magazine journalism major. Megan has recently returned to the North Country after spending the last four years in the United Arab Emirates. Megan plans one day to become a writer for Jane magazine in NYC, until then she plans to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Adirondacks.
Art Director Lisa Bettencourt born in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, is a junior at SUNY Plattsburgh and is a print journalism major. Lisa is a huge hockey fan who dreams to play for team Canada, but if that doesn't pan out she plans to be a writer for Sports Illustrated. The thing this Canadian loves about the North Country is the laid-back, friendly people.
Copy Editor Jennifer Carino is a senior at SUNY Plattsburgh from Huntington, NY on lovely Long Island. She plans to get her degree in magazine journalism, and then it's "Goodbye, Plattsburgh" for eternity! Jenn loves ice cream, Italian food, acting silly, and 70 degree temperature weather. She doesn't drink soda (never has, never will). She used to love winter, but the North Country has officially soured her on that. I like blue!
Assistant Editor Rachael Osborne is a sophomore at SUNY Plattsburgh who is pursing a degree in journalism. As a native of Ausable Forks, NY, she is interested in philosophy and photography. Rachael also has a love for traveling, as well as a soft spot for hardcore rock music and concerts. And really, who doesn’t love concerts?
Robert Cassidy is a journalism major in junior standing at SUNY Plattsburgh. He hails from Rutland, VT, but has resided in several cities around the country, including Shreveport, LA; Tampa Bay and Melbourne, FL; and most recently, Denver, CO. Robert is also proud supporter of the Democratic Party, feeling great displeasure for the current administration. When he’s not politically enthused, he has a great love for hiking, cooking (with 8 years of experience under his belt), and various sports, particularly football.
Sarah Ellis, a.k.a. “Super Woman”, is a junior at SUNY Plattsburgh, representing Chazy, NY. When she’s not snapping photos for us, she enjoys spending her free time on the ski slopes, hiking, biking, and if there’s a party going on somewhere, chances are you will see her there. Just say “hi” and tell her that we sent you.
Keiichi Ishizuka is from Urausu-city, Hokkaido, Japan, and is a magazine journalism major at SUNY Plattsburgh. Keiichi is a junior who sees himself working in the music industry in the future. He is looking to improve his English through writing. A native of the North Country of Japan, Keiichi finds similarities between his snowy home and the frigidly cold Plattsburgh.
Angela Keddy, from Brushton, NY, is currently a freshman at SUNY Plattsburgh. Her major is magazine journalism, along with a minor in theater. Angela has a soft spot for dancing, playing volleyball, and skiing the slopes.
Sarah Lepak hails from Saranac Lake in hope of attaining a journalism degree from SUNY Plattsburgh. When she’s not concentrating on her sophomore studies, she’s all for hiking, camping, swimming, and just being outside in the fresh air.
Mike O’Brien is a sophomore at SUNY Plattsburgh with a major in magazine journalism. This Brooklyn, NY native enjoys skiing and the color orange. Mike isn’t a morning person, and don’t even think about putting mayonnaise on his sandwich. He hates that stuff.
Sara Race, a senior from Cooperstown, NY, has a major in speech communications and a minor in English at SUNY Plattsburgh. Don’t give her a hamburger because she’s a vegetarian who has never eaten meat. However, the smell of hot wings will make her mouth water. Sara also has a love for cats. Just ask her pet kitten, Buster.
Huong Thu Le is a freshman at SUNY Plattsburgh with a double major in journalism and international business. A native of Hanoi, Vietnam, she has no idea why she ended up in Plattsburgh because it’s just too darn cold! In fact, she’s moving to Arizona soon, but is grateful for all the opportunities that she’s been given here in Plattsburgh.
Former Editor Joe Samuelson III, from Buffalo, New York, is a print journalism major. Joe is all about the outdoors in the summer and hates the bitterness of the Plattsburgh winter. But when the weather gets cold he is very happy that he can find good bacon cheeseburgers to make up for the lack of quality Buffalo wings in the area (but notes that the Monopole wings aren't bad).
Former Editor-in-Chief Adam Szot, from Saratoga Springs, New York, graduated SUNY Plattsburgh with a print journalism major. Adam plans to spend two years pursuing journalistic endeavors, after which, he plans to move to the west coast.
Former Copy Editor Sarah Brooks from Amsterdam, New York, is a junior at SUNY Plattsburgh and a magazine journalism major. Even though she likes the North Country's maple syrup, she has no interest in the mulletclad people who make the tasty treat. She edits our Letters page.
Former Copy Editor Jeff Primeau, from Oswego, New York, graduated SUNY Plattsburgh with a print journalism major. He is a jazz-loving leftist who hopes to build an armyconsisting of sickle slashing midget clowns.
Former Assistant Editor Kaidian Smith is from Queens, New York. She is a junior at SUNY Plattsburgh and a print journalism major with a minor in English. For now, Kaidian is happy being a professional student who says she's "just trying to make her dreams come true" — whatever they are.She is our calendar editor and our resident "Samuel De Champlain."
