FALL 2002
The diverse collection at Plattsburgh State University's art
museum offers both students and local residents an opportunity to
see and appreciate art in its original form. Recently, the Plattsburgh
State Student Association's Art Acquisition Committee acquired a Rembrandt
etching. The artist, one of the leading printmakers of all time, represents
the very essence of Dutch 17th century humanism.
In an audio slideshow, Edward Brohel,
director of the art museum, explains the motivation behind purchasing
prestigious works of art. Each purchase, of course, enhances the artistic
study collection, which represents a diverse collection, both culturally
and stylistically. Brohel discusses the highlights of, what he sees, as
the top four works and reasons for their selection.
Please allow a few minutes for the audio slideshow
below to download.
