So you're hanging around Plattsburgh and you're hungry for some good old fashioned, greasy, fattening diner food. Where's the best place to go? Most Plattsburgh natives would tell you "Why the Homestead restaurant of course." But most of Plattsburgh would be wrong, for they have yet to discover the hidden treasure that is The Campus Corner Restaurant.

The name of this diner is misleading for it is not located anywhere in the vicinity of the college campus. Instead it is tucked into the corner of Bridge Street and Pike Street, in downtown Plattsburgh. With its white clapboard and green trim exterior, Campus Corner looks like your run off the mill, hung over college student frequented dive. But most students don't' know about this place. In fact, most residents don't know about Campus Corner. The seats are never full, and there is always space at the counter, even during the Sunday brunch rush.

The diner has no individual tables, instead a large twisting bar circles the entire restaurant, taking up most of the interior. In the far back, an open kitchen allows you to see your meal being prepared and smell the mouthwatering scent of the dishes that your fellow patrons have ordered.

Campus Corner is open Monday through Friday from 6:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. and on Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. This means that only breakfast and lunch are served daily, but the quality of the food more than makes up for the short operation hours.

Breakfast is, by far, the diner's specialty. Offering pancakes, omelets, French toast, and eggs as main courses and sausage, bacon, home fries, and large assortment of toasts as sides; the Campus Corner covers all the basic diner breakfast requirements. With the choice of any combination, large or small, there really is something for everyone. And for the big eater of the group, the diner offers what it calls the Lumberjack Breakfast. It's a mammoth serving of just about every main breakfast dish and side. Anyone ordering this meal might have to be rolled home!

For lunch, Campus Corner offers many standard dishes, including open-faced sandwiches, burgers, fries, and grilled items. But if you're one of those people who love to have breakfast late in the afternoon, never fear, Campus Corner serves breakfast whenever it's open.
Although it is tucked away on a little side street and not well known in the Plattsburgh community, The Campus Corner restaurant is well worth the searching if you're looking for a great diner experience. For more information about the diner call (518) 563-4154

Service- One waitress bustles around the counter. Although having to be reminded twice about a coffee refill, the service is usually good. 3 Sporks
Food- Exceptional diner fare, greasy and smothered in gravy. Yum. 4 Sporks
Atmosphere- Authentic diner experience. During the winter it's chilly near the windows and it's hard to have a conversation without the entire diner hearing it, due to the size of the diner and lack of private tables, but overall very pleasant. 3 Sporks
Cleanliness- Countertops are clean, never sticky, and always thoroughly wiped down after each patrons exit. 3 Sporks
$$$- Extremely cheap. 4 Sporks
Seating comfort- Tiny stools can be hard on the derriere if sitting for a long time, and lack of backs on stools can hurt back. 2 Sporks

*Overall Rating- 3 Sporks
