What’s a great activity to get you out of the house on a Friday or Saturday night? Hey, let’s go bowling!

North Bowl Lanes Inc., located at 28 North Bowl Lane (very clever) in Plattsburgh, New York, is the perfect place to do it! Reservations are recommended if you and your crew will be heading there on a weekend, especially if you need more than one lane. However, if you find yourself standing around waiting to bowl and you’re over 21, head to the bar. Here, they offer a pool table and an electronic dartboard. Not only that, but you’re more than likely to find a smiling bartender waiting to serve you whatever drink you desire. And, for the most part, you’ll spend less on drinks here than you will elsewhere. Bottles of beer are only $2.25, and mixed drinks are around $3.00. If you want to buy a pitcher it’s going to be about $5.00… and you better not forget to tip the bartender!

If you plan to go bowling between Monday and Thursday, a game will run you only $2.25. On Fridays and Saturdays, North Bowl offers “moonlight” bowling, which costs $3.25 per game. Although the cost is a little extra, the difference in setting more than makes up for the extra dollar that just came out of your pocket. The lights are turned down, and the bowling alley is transformed into a glow-in-the-dark haven. The atmosphere is intense. People can be heard shouting and carrying on all over the place, especially when someone gets a strike. An extra bonus for moonlight bowling is a little treat called “the red pin.” If it’s your turn to bowl, and you get the red pin at the front, this is your time to show those pins what you’re made of. If you get a strike…say hello to a free game! The employees are excellent with honoring this policy, and your free game can be collected at the cash register when you leave.

Another cool thing about North Bowl Lanes is that all of the scorekeeping is automated, so even if you’ve never been bowling and don’t know how to keep score, it won’t be a problem.

The bathrooms are clean, and the floors are too. In fact, this bowling alley’s more sanitary than any movie theater you’ve ever been in. There is a snack bar open until about midnight, and the candy machines are stocked for the late-night munchies. The hospitality and service at North Bowl Lanes is above average. The employees work around the customers, so if you want to bowl a little later than usual, it won’t be a big deal: As long as you’re paying, they’re staying. Just remember…the bar closes at two a.m. So grab a couple pitchers, and keep the good times rolling with some bowling!

Well worth it!

It beats eating Ramen.

You'd be better off eating at McDonald's.

Even the rats won't eat here.
