Who's up for Italian?
Local Italian eatery is bellissimo! Story and photo by Jen Dunkerley At first glance, I have to be honest; Mickey’s was not the cozy comforting place I expected. Sitting right next to a railroad track on the side of the road I wasn’t sure what was in store for me, so I quickly calculated the distance from my car to the front door. But as soon as I stepped in, I was pleasantly surprised.
Mickey’s has a very clean, comfortable environment that is the perfect place to sit with friends and family in order enjoy time together. They have very spacious seating in the dining area. Dim lighting makes for a nice quiet ambiance for a family dinner or a romantic evening for two.The service was impeccable. As soon as I walked in I felt welcomed and felt very comfortable even before I sat down. The staff was always very attentive and accommodating to my needs.
If you decide to go for lunch, you can choose from a variety of hot and cold sandwiches along with pasta dishes or you have options of antipasto, fresh focaccia bread with olive oil or soup specials for that real Italian twist. To put it simply, Mickey’s dinner menu is huge. There is something there for everyone and one of the only menus that I’ve seen in Plattsburgh that offers escargot. The menu also includes some of the most mouth-watering Italian entrees from pasta Carbonara, Wild Mushroom Marinara, Pesto Genovese and so much more all ranging from $10.00 to $15.00. The bar area was also very clean. Although we didn’t have drinks at the bar, it was still equally spacious and comfortable as the dining room. There was plenty of seating at the bar and there were smaller tables for those who want to sit by the bar but still enjoy their privacy.
