Koffee Kat

The Koffee Kat is a small coffee shop snuggled next to the used bookstore on Margaret Street in downtown Plattsburgh. The awning is yellow with “Koffee Kat” scribbled in crooked purple writing.  There are customers sitting on turquoise fold out chairs outside, sipping coffee and enjoying the nice September weather. Upon entering the Koffee Kat a visitor is greeted by the warm aroma of fresh brewed coffee. Read More

Island Delights There are few desserts I prefer to a tasty bowl of ice cream. The sweet, creamy goodness and all the calories I could live without are far too tempting for my taste buds to resist. The dessert, in my eyes, is one of the constants out there. I find it is difficult to make an ice cream I don’t like; however, it is considerably challenging to find one I absolutely adore. Read More
On the Brink I was strolling aimlessly throughout Downtown Plattsburgh when an aroma of breakfast drew me to this storefront. I stopped in front and contemplated going in. The outside was unkempt and the inside was deserted. The steps looked like they were splattered with dirt. Read More
Dance

“Right Hand Star!” the caller shouts.  Immediately circles are formed and everyone around me is whooping and jigging in glee.  “Do-se-do!” the caller continues, and as the band keeps time, couples come twirling down the rows of people, dancing circles in the night. Read More

But as soon as I stepped in, I was pleasantly surprised. Read More

Plattsburgh is over a hundred miles away from the ocean, but this unique restaurant brings Maine to the North Country. Mainely Lobster and Seafood brings fresh seafood to the table six days a week. Deer's Head My long-lost friend was waiting for me when I opened up the menu. Coffee-and-black-pepper-encrusted venison loin, served in a maple bourbon veal reduction and accompanied by a poached pear. We had met before, this deer preparation and I, years past at Lake Placid’s Mirror Lake Inn. And if it wasn’t exactly love at first sight, it was certainly the start of a beautiful friendship. Magic Hat The date 9/9/09 only comes around once a century, and this time around it was celebrated in style.
