Manga Pizza and Pasta

Come on in! We have your table waiting....

Mangia Pizza & Pasta, tucked away off Route 9 in Plattsburgh, is not just any old Italian restaurant. When you walk through the door, you immediately feel like you’re in a cozy bistro. You feel at home here, as if it’s Sunday dinner, and fragrant smell of tomato, fresh bred, and spices invade your senses.

Mangia – Italian for “it eats” - is pretty close to perfect for an evening of quiet dining and deliciously fresh Italian cuisine. The first thing you notice is how quiet the medium-sized dining area is. Booths line the area by the glass windows, joined by a handful of tables for two to four people. Even if there is someone sitting behind you, there is no elbow knocking to be weary of. Wine bottles of different sizes and hues line the large wooden divider in the center of the main dining area, and every table has a narrow bottle of olive oil as an added accent.

Your server welcomes you to the establishment not long after you settle in, and with a smile, they ask for your drink order and bring you some of the best tasting bread you will ever savor. Forget the bonus oil and balsamic vinegar prepared as an accompaniment; the bread is satisfying enough as a stand-alone.

Now comes the toughest part; deciding which entrée to order from Mangia’s extensive menu of appetizers, pizzas, calzones, pastas, salads, and more. You’ll find it hard to make a decision, as everything that catches your eyes sounds scrumptious. A great choice for starters would be the bruchetta, which is a toasted Italian bread topped with tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil. Their pizza sizes come in 12 or 14 inch, sliced thin, but you will probably walk out with a doggie bag so you can savor what’s left at home. And don’t expect to leave without ordering one of Mangia’s tasty desserts. They serve a mean Tiramasu, ladyfingers soaked in espresso topped with chocolate fluffy custard and whipped cream, all adorned with chocolate sauce. And if you want to share, try the Bocci Ball Sundae, which looks more like the size of a volleyball and is more than satisfying.

The general feel of Mangia is comfort. Your food arrives quickly, the service is timely and pleasant, and you leave with a full stomach without spending your life savings.

Well worth it!

It beats eating Ramen.

You'd be better off eating at McDonald's.

Even the rats won't eat here.
