It was the little girl who saw the ghost first.

For several months, the private residence in Malone had been plagued with unexplainable occurrences. Voices, belonging to no member of the family, were heard. Footsteps echoed from the upstairs. Doors, which had been left shut, were later found to have swung open. Objects that had been left in one location were discovered inexplicably moved to a new location. And one of the daughters claimed to have felt a hand graze, ever so slowly, over the back of her head. Concerned, the owners of the property called the Northern New York Paranormal Research Society (NNYPRS) to investigate the possible paranormal phenomena.

The Blue-Eyed Devil

In the late 1970s, David "The Son of Sam" Berkowitz murdered six people and injured seven more in New York City in a string of murders that paralyzed the city with fear and had the rest of the nation on edge.

Once authorities captured Berkowitz, they knew just where to send him and exactly the man they wanted to deal with him. They sent him to what was then known as Dannemora Prison, now called simply Clinton Correctional Facility, where the worst criminals in the state were sent. The man they chose to greet him and escort him into the prison is known as one of the roughest, toughest correctional officers in the history of New York State Department of Correctional Services (NYSDOC), and is, amongst fellow correctional officers, just as notorious as Son of Sam himself. In our first meeting in November 2006, Casey Henley's words made me suspect my ears and memory. He said he would not be available for a couple of weeks because he was "going to Antarctica."

English is not my first language, and though I thought I knew the word "Antarctica," I checked my dictionary after the meeting in case I had misunderstood. The dictionary said what I had thought.
