A major overhaul of Tupper Lake is in the works. During three days of presentations and reviews, the Adirondack Park Agency (APA) committee voted unanimously to send the project to a judicial hearing. The hearing will be conducted before March 20, but no official date has been set. "The committee will make a final decision during the judiciary hearing," said APA Spokesman Keith Mckeever. |

Fishing on Lake Champlain is going to get a lot easier. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) is funding a new boat launch coming to downtown Plattsburgh. Kevin Farrington, Plattsburgh's city engineer, says that all the new recreation on the waterfront, including the boat launch, is thanks to the previous mayor, Dan Stewart. Stewart cleaned up the railroad tracks off Dock Street in downtown Plattsburgh, and had a parking lot built for the new park. He also supported plans for the new boat launch and hotel, which should be up and running by 2008. |
