When it comes to movies sequels, the second is usually not as good as the first. When it comes to restaurants, Jade Buffet knows how to make their sequel better then the first. Jade Buffet, located off Route 3 in Plattsburgh, NY, burned down in May 2006. It was a popular spot to eat in Plattsburgh and shocked many when it went to ashes. It wasn’t a spectacular place to go to but if you liked all-you-can-eat Chinese food for a cheap price, it was the place to be. |

Their brand of music is a cluster of different genres, but mainly they stick to Rock N' Roll. RAQ, pronounced rack, are an outfit from Burlington, Vermont, and on February 8, they were able to ignite a fire underneath the feet of the crowd at Higher Ground, turning the show into a giant dance party. Their setup is simple, a bass player named Jay Burwick, Chris Michetti rips his guitar to pieces, Greg Sturkey lays down the beat on his drum kit and Todd Stoops enjoys the plethora of keys that are laid out in front of him. The mood of their entire set was fun; everyone in the band had a giant smile that reached from ear to ear for almost the entire show. |

The stage was packed with singers, an enthusiastic conductor, and a choir dressed in vibrant gowns of black, blue, purple, and light blue, with soft white trimming. Having never been to a gospel performance before, I was amazed at the level of audience participation that the choir drew. As several of the songs reached their climax, the audience was standing on its feet, dancing and clapping along with the choir. They were also singing along with the songs, and it added to the passion of the moment. I also couldn’t help but move along and clap as the music played and the joy radiated out of the choir into the theatre. |

You know the feeling you get when you know you're at home? That warm, cozy feeling when you're totally comfortable and the smell of something good that just came out of the oven wraps itself around you? That's the feeling you get when you walk into Kaya's Country Kitchen in Plattsburgh, NY. It's a place where you can be at home. When I walked into Kaya's for the first time, I expected it to be like any other diner. I was wrong. As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted with smiles. Surrounded by a clean, comfortable setting, and the sounds of country music in the background, I knew this wasn't going to be just some old diner. |

While watching the Food Network one night, a show came on called Throwdown with Bobby Flay. It was a battle between Chef Bobby Flay and an American-Italian chef named Mark Bove. They were battling to see who could make the best lasagna. Little did I know was that Mark Bove was the owner of Bove’s Café in Burlington. And after watching that throw down, I wanted to take a trip to Burlington to try a little bit of Bove’s Italian cooking. Read More |

Reginald Rose's famous jury room drama 12 Angry Men was brought to the stage at SUNY Plattsburgh thanks to Saranac Lake's Pendragon Theatre and their traveling actors and crew. The performance which was held in the E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium on February 16 was presented by the SUNY Plattsburgh Theater Department and in part by the Student Association. The plot of the play involves twelve jurors debating with one another over a young man on trial for murder. Eleven out of twelve of the jury members believe the defendant is without a doubt guilty, but one juror has one tough conscience and decides that the case deserves lengthy consideration from him and to their reluctance, the other jurors. Shouting, insults and threats are exchanged as the play unfolds while the lone juror carefully and slowly begins to show the defendant's innocence through the evidence and his intelligence. |

After a few shots of the average naughty clear substance, one might find his or herself standing in the middle of a loud and sweaty field of flesh. The flesh moves and sways to the sound of the bass that pumps out of the large speakers hoisted above the field. As a participant at the event, whether willingly or not, one might even find his or herself doing a bit of moving and swaying due to the ill effects of that previously consumed clear substance. Eventually, the beat stops, and the feeling of ecstasy is replaced with a feeling of grogginess, followed by a sharp pinch to the midsection. The mouth suddenly loses its moisture, and a loud and angry noise growls over the rumblings of the remaining swamp of humanity, and the necessary procedure is immediately realized—you’re freakin' starving! |
