The M&M Diner,
located on Main Street in Au Sable Forks
|
The next time you're taking the "fam"
out to eat, and you're in the area, stop in at the M&M Diner in
Au Sable Forks, New York. The kids love it, and many local folks stop
in to enjoy the food regularly.
It’s your typical diner setting—nothing spectacular. An
L-shaped bar is located toward the back of the restaurant, lined with
black leather bar stools. Doughnuts and pastries of all sorts fill glass
cookie jars along the countertop. A few booths are set up—green
covered tables, with burgundy leather-like seats, and some round tables
accompanied by metal chairs are arranged in the leftover spaces. It
has a rather eclectic, yet cozy, small-town diner atmosphere.
The menu is quite impressive in its selection of dishes. Lunch specialties
include all sorts of cold sandwiches, such as The Adirondacker, a roast
beef sandwich with tomato and provolone on a hoagie roll, or The Gobbler,
a turkey sandwich with tomato and provolone on a hoagie roll. A Michigan
(a hotdog with chili sauce on top), highly recommended, and served with
a side of homemade fries, is a very satisfying meal. They have hamburgers,
bacon cheeseburgers, soups, salads and even hot turkey sandwiches. The
prices are quite reasonable as well. You can plan for a lunch to cost
around $6 per person.
The M&M Diner is also open for dinner all week long. Whether you're
in the mood for a 12-ounce rib eye steak with sautéed onions
and mushrooms, or the Captain’s Platter—an assortment of
scallops, shrimp and clams—you will leave with a full stomach.
A dinner here will cost between $10 to $16 per person, but portions
are generous.
Pizza is also an option to eat in or take out. The diner is well known
around town and beyond for their homemade pizzas with a wide selection
of toppings—everything from pepperoni to meatballs to jalapeno
peppers.
The M&M Diner is worth trying out. The restaurant is clean, the
people are friendly, and the food is pretty darn good too! It's
open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday through Sunday.

Well worth it!

It beats eating Ramen.

You'd be better off eating at McDonald's.
Even the rats won't eat here.
