Letter from the Editor-in-Chief

Welcome to the summer 2012 issue of All Points North online! Here at APN, we know we're not the only ones eager for that warm sunshine and cool breeze blowing through the Adirondacks. The fast-approaching summer weather has put the staff of All Points North in a great mood, and we’re excited to bring you the latest issue of our magazine.

In our Spotlight Stories, Lauren Lewis introduces us to several local bakeries specializing in cupcakes. The delectable treats will have you salivating while you read along. Kevin Fellows will take you on a camping trip to secluded Indian Lake. And Javier Simon will take us back to a more tumultuous time, when Vietnam War protests were common on the SUNY Plattsburgh campus. So break out the sunglasses! Throw back some ice cold lemonade. On behalf of the APN staff, we hope you enjoy our summer issue.

Letter from the Web Editor

Dear Readers,

We hope you are enjoying our new All Points North website! In the past we've designed our website according to the seasons such as having a summer photo as a banner for our summer issue. However, we felt it was time for All Points North to be recognized as a brand rather than relying on the seasons to tell our stories and design our layouts.

Without losing some of the elements you've come to associate with APN, such as our spotlight stories on the homepage, we have chose to modernize our design. We wanted to create a design that best represented who we are and where we're going. Thus, we reached our to art director, Amanda Fruehauf, who helped us create our banner and logo, which can be seen at the top and bottom of the page respectively.

Although we're proud of our roots, we've incorporated a user friendly interface and are in the process of transferring older issues into the newer design. We've also intergrated a comment section, so readers, like yourself can interact with the writers and editors and leave feedback. We will continue to make progressive change such as being able to share stories on Facebook, google+, but we hope you enjoy the new aspects that have been added. Thank you for reading!

Sincerely,
Abby Oladipo
Web Editor
