Bob's employees encourage customers to visit the shop and test out the equipment.
Walking into the shop, customers are immediately tuned in to guitars and drums of all colors, shapes, and sizes lining the floor and walls of the shop. Bob’s Music is located in the middle of a college town in the Plattsburgh Plaza. It was started by original owner, musician, and music fanatic Bob Duprah about 30 years ago, and it’s still rocking under new the management of Dan Bushey and Manson Glover. Before buying the shop, Glover had been working with Bob. Glover had also visited the Bob’s Music quite often before purchasing the business. “Bob was selling and Manson was buying,” says employee Dan Bushey. Bob’s finds its home in a town full of music lovers and artists alike. The shop is small, but it’s organized and has a variety of music equipment.

Bob's has a wide variety of guitars to choose from.

“Seeing is believing,” says owner Manson Glover. “We encourage everyone to try before they buy."

“Seeing is believing,” says owner Manson Glover. “We encourage everyone to try before they buy. It makes a difference.” Bob’s wants customers to come in to play and test out the equipment to get a feel for what they like. They welcome musicians of all playing levels. Bob’s has beginner guitars for the little ones and pro-style guitars and banjos for aspiring musicians. Happy to entertain any questions or inquiries, Bob’s repairs and sells a wide range of equipment from guitars to drums and strings to picks. They even guarantee a 30-day warranty on any purchased or repaired equipment. Bob’s sells acoustic, acoustic-electric, and electric guitars with many well-known brands from Alvarez to Sperzel. They also tone it down for customers looking for instruments at a lower octave. They carry four and five string bases of all colors. They have everything from a Rock n’ Roll style with a flash of color to the traditional brown in-house.

Bring on the percussion. Bob’s has drum kits and an abundance of dependable cymbals. Drum stick and brush players can find all sizes and makes of metal cymbals. They have crash cymbals for a sharp end note, ride cymbals for a rhythmic pattern, high hat cymbals for that foot-pedal control, bell cymbals for that cowbell sound, sizzle cymbals for that short, rattling sound, and China cymbals for that explosive gong that adds the perfect amount of drama to any music piece.

Now, before musicians are ready to take the stage, they need amps (with all voltages), mics, and optional mixers to help accentuate that concert sound the band is looking for, and Bob’s Music certainly isn’t lacking in this department. Other miscellaneous items such as cables, picks, strings, and sticks can also be found at Bob’s. In addition to selling equipment, Bob’s does custom installations for all audio equipment, and they have P.A. rentals for customers and various events.

We go to Bob’s Music because it’s the best and only locally owned music store that knows all their clients on a first name basis,” says Ryan Hayden of Party Wolf. “They always have everything we need."

Though they haven’t had any big-name celebrities in the shop yet, greats from local bands such as Glass Onion and Party Wolf, among others, are frequent shoppers. “We go to Bob’s Music because it’s the best and only locally owned music store that knows all their clients on a first name basis,” says Ryan Hayden of Party Wolf. “They always have everything we need.” Bob’s strives to share their love of music with their customers, in hopes that they will love music just as much as Bob’s employees do.
