Carving out the Old and Bringing in the New Story and photos by Danielle O'Connell Ever since Carbur's closed on Margaret Street in Plattsburgh, the space has sat abandoned. After a long wait, a new restaurant has moved in. Maggie's has put a new look on the restaurant scene and they have something for everyone.
If you don’t want to hang out around the bar scene, then simply walk over to the other side of the restaurant. The family dining room is completely isolated from the sports bar. It is decorated with pictures of old Plattsburgh and the tables are neatly set with table clothes and centerpieces. Families can easily enjoy their meals in this room. “We have gone over the old Carbur's menu to decide what people liked most,” Beeman said. The bar and food get an A+. The bar spreads out across an entire wall, making it very spacious with a lot of seating. They have the same kinds of alcohol found at any other Plattsburgh bar, and have Budweiser promotions whenever they can. “We know how much college kids love the things that come along with promotions,” Beeman said. “it will help us get more of the younger crowd in here." Then, of course, there is the food. If anyone was a fan of Carbur's then they will certainly be a fan of Maggie’s. One of the chefs that used to work at Carbur's is working the kitchen and has brought back some of their most popular sandwiches. “We have gone over the old Carbur's menu to decide what people like most,” Beeman said. Also included on the menu are a wide variety of dinner dishes, from burgers to steaks. The prices haven’t been worked out yet, but Beeman assures that they will be reasonable. Maggie’s is a place that should spark everyone’s interest because it has something for everyone. The atmosphere is sure to be fun because of the outgoing staff and friendly service. So make your way down to Maggie’s, it’s sure to be like no other place in Plattsburgh. |
