Ford Ironman USA Lake Placid

Ford Ironman USA Lake Placid is the ultimate test of strength, speed, and endurance - not to mention willpower - for thousands of athletes from all around the world. Now in its ninth year, the Lake Placid Ironman competition is the "oldest official Ironman on the continental United States." The first Ironman was held in Hawaii in 1978. For Lake Placid, it is the largest one-day annual event that brings competition and commerce.

Will Walking Come After Crawling?

The bar crawl: A group of people moving from bar to bar, having a few drinks at one location then moving on to the next. Drinks are served, conversation is made, and new watering holes are discovered. Recently, Plattsburgh had its own bar crawl that began at Geoffrey's Pub and Restaurant and wound it's way through downtown, hitting the bars and sampling the scene.

Dean Overbaugh is early.

Since 11:07 a.m., the South Burlington resident has stood, the first in line, outside the solid glass door of 36 Church Street in anticipation of its April 17 noon opening. Over the ensuing 40 minutes, approximately 130 people join him, forming a line that wraps around the corner of the brick-covered building. Overbaugh, who is attending his third consecutive Free Cone Day and who is undeterred by the 34 degree temperature, has one problem.
