Popular Musical comes to Plattsburgh State University College

Remember those old Elvis Presley movies where Elvis is charismatically pursuing a woman on some Hawaiian beach? Elvis somehow manages to make time stop for a moment and send you into a state of infatuation and you can't help but believe in love? The Plattsburgh production of South Pacific mirrors this and inspires the hopelessly uninspired.

The Buddhahood Self-Produce Album
The problem with so-called "super groups," like The Buddhahood, is that the studio albums they produce, well, to put it bluntly, suck. The musicians have either never played together before or are a tight-show band, and sometimes they end up stepping on one another’s toes. When you add giant egos to the mix, what you get is most likely a recipe for disaster.

The Slow Natives - Live at Plattsburgh State

In 1975, the Rolling Stones played "Brown Sugar" on a running flat-bed truck passing by the people in the streets of New York City. AC/DC did the same thing with "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock'n'roll)" in Melbourne, Australia, in 1976. U2 did it in New York City in 2004.

What's Wong?

Wong Kwon's tables are small and crowded together. The table setting is a paper placemat covered in Chinese years - like the year of the rat - and its explanations. The décor doesn't come off as a traditional Chinese restaurant. A few oriental-style paintings and a couple of paper dragons are the only things that would hint to you that you are in a Chinese food joint.

Le Commensal

The small placard simply states "Gateau au soya" and "couvert confiture de fruit," with the English translation, "Soy cake covered with jam," printed in significantly smaller type below the bolded heading. Pooling delectably on an azure plate, the dark plum-colored jam drips slowly off the sides of the half-eaten cake; a serving knife, flecked with vanilla crumbs and jam, lies in the middle of the platter. The cake sits in a row with similar desserts, all nestled in an ice-filled buffet, with a label located above each cake. "Gateau Allemand," "Croustade aux pommes," "Gateau mousse au chocolat," three of over 10 sugary confections, lie on porcelain dishes with a serving knife at the ready, the desserts appearing to glow under the white overhead lights.

Bob Marshall In The Adirondacks: Writings of a Peak Bagger, Pond Hopper and Wilderness Preservationist

Bob Marshall is perhaps one of the most influential preservationists in history. Lucky for us, he had a love affair with the Adirondacks. It was a love nurtured in his childhood trips from Manhattan to his family camp, Knollwood, on Lower Saranac Lake, New York.
