Welcome to the winter issue of All Points North online! Those of us
residing in the North Country know a thing or two about wild winter
weather. From raging blizzards to gusty winds, the staff at All Points
North wouldn't have it any other way. Whether you're stuck in your house
because the snow plow skipped your street, or you're skiing down Whiteface
Mountain, we hope you find time to enjoy this issue.
In our Spotlight Stories, Amanda Fruehauf transports you back to the
Medieval period with the 60-year-old Society for Creative Anachronism as
your tour guide. Kevin Fellows takes you sky high with his profile on
Vermont kite-maker Jim Thompson. Lindsey Shumway will blow your mind with
her story on State of Mind, a Plattsburgh business that sells long-lasting,
hand-made glass pieces.
Hunker down with a cup of hot cocoa, warm PJs, and get lost in the North
Country..
On behalf of the All Points North staff, I hope you enjoy navigating the
North Country with us.

Dear Readers,
We hope you are enjoying our new All Points North website! In the past we've designed our website according to the seasons such as having a summer photo as a banner for our summer issue. However, we felt it was time for All Points North to be recognized as a brand rather than relying on the seasons to tell our stories and design our layouts.
Without losing some of the elements you've come to associate with APN, such as our spotlight stories on the homepage, we have chose to modernize our design. We wanted to create a design that best represented who we are and where we're going. Thus, we reached our to graphic design students such as Shawna Armstrong who helped us create our banner and logo, which can be seen at the top and bottom of the page respectively.
Although we're proud of our roots, we've incorporated a user friendly interface such as having our "sections" organized topically in the navigation bar making it easier to browse for our story sections. We will continue to make progressive change like readers being able to share our stories on Facebook, twitter and digg, but we hope you enjoy the new aspects that have already been added. Thank you for reading!
Sincerely,
Abby Oladipo
