There is a saying in the Jazz world that goes, “It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing.”  Ellen Powell, bass player and adjunct lecturer of Plattsburgh State University has long applied this rule to her life, keeping it soulfully jazzy to this day. “Jazz has always been a comfortable place for me,” Powell says happily.
